An Ancient Ale Brew Day – in Pictures

| april 11, 2013

There are some days that are so damn big, so crammed full of amazing stuff, that it’s hard – no it’s impossible – to squeeze, mould and contain everything into words on a computer screen.

Watching Sam and Dr Pat from Dogfish Head as they visited Nynäshamns Ångbryggeri to brew the latest in their Ancient Ale series of beers was one such day.

Flipping through the dozens of photographs, hastily scribbled notes and iPhone film footage I took during Friday of last week I confess I’m struggling to figure out where to begin and how best to communicate just what a remarkable day this was for the Swedish beer scene. Because I feel I really need you to understand why, for many reasons, it was just that – the day Swedish craft beer got a visit from the big boys and a dawning sense of realisation throughout the day that we’re actually not very different from each other after all.

So whenever it’s hard to see the whole picture I find it’s sometimes helpful to split things up into images and words.  First out are the pictures; a visual snapshot of nine inspirational hours at NYAB watching from the sidelines trying to be all cool while secretly holding in the kind of rabid hysteria you’d see from a teenage girl at a Justin Bieber concert.

The words will follow in the morning.
