Top UK Beer writer Mark Dredge joins BeerSweden team!

| mars 25, 2013

When we relaunched BeerSweden as an online beer magazine at the end of last year we made a commitment to you to build a team of top class beer writers and opinion leaders in the global beer industry.

We’ve already welcomed the Brewers Association, the undisputed voice of the US craft beer industry; Fredrik Johansen, the 10,000+ beer guy and now our inside man for all things Mikkeller, Denmark and Skåne; Jens Scrubbe, the world’s No 1 defender of Belgium beers and blogger-turned-beertographer Robert Hellberg

MarkDredgeWell today we can proudly announce another addition to our ‘A-Team’ (queue music); none other than leading UK beer blogger and soon-to-be author Mark Dredge, who will be writing a monthly column about the UK beer scene right here starting next month!

For those of you that follow the beer blogosphere Mark’s name will be very familiar. He’s one of the UK’s top freelance beer, food and travel writers (regularly contributing to national media such as The Guardian) and among his many other titles was named the British Guild of Beer Writers‘ Beer and Food Writer of the Year 2011.

Mark’s own blog Pencil & Spoon was always one of my first stops on my morning stroll through my blog-roll back in the early days of BeerSweden. I found I could instantly identify with Mark; a guy willing to wake up at 5am in order to post something about beer before heading off to his ‘proper job’.

Back then and today Mark represents a new generation of beer writers; an average guy who decided to find out more about his favourite drink and then took us along for the online ride.

His well-documented obsession with malt and hops eventually led him to become the marketing dude at Camden Town Brewery and next month he’s publishing his first book about beer called Craft Beer World (which I’ve got mixed emotions about as he’s basically just written the book I always wanted to publish).

He also wrote one of my favourite beer reviews ever.

Mark’s observational and conversational style of writing is laced with the kind of infectious enthusiasm that just makes you want to be his mate, go down the pub with him for a game of pool and share a few frothy pints.

So it’s with a huge grin on my face that I’m hitting the publish button on this bit of news. At BeerSweden we’re committed to bringing you the best original beer writing not just in Sweden but anywhere on the web and today we’re taking another big step towards that goal.

Welcome to the team Mark!

(oh and do you fancy a game of pool any time soon?)
