Brooklyn is coming to Stockholm (in more ways than one) and to celebrate the US craft beer legend’s visit to the Swedish capital this April celebrated beer bar Akkurat is hosting the largest tap takeover of Brooklyn beers ever staged outside of New York!
At least 14 different draft beers will go on sale, many of which will never have been seen in Sweden before. Some of them will only be available in very limited, eye-watering small batches.
And the focus won’t just be on BB ‘rarities’ either. Some of the brewery’s core US beers will be making their way over the Atlantic to Södermalm for the very first time.
Not content with taking over the place Brooklyn Brewery’s renowned Brewmaster Garret Oliver will also team up with Akkurat’s kitchen to host a Beermaker’s Dinner where it will match its beers with a menu designed around ‘Swedish Classics’.
“We’re working flat out on the menu right now so I can’t reveal too much just yet”, says Stene Isacsson, co-founder and owner of Akkurat.
“But it will be a huge honour and amazing fun to do this super-sized Brooklyn event. Both myself and the chefs think it’s insanely cool to be able to play around with the fine details as we so seldom have time to do so normally. We certainly don’t have a lack of inspiration for this event!”
What is confirmed is that the dinner will take place on Monday, April 22nd. That’s the same day the majority of the draft beers will also go on sale for the first time and will be served for approximately a week and a half or until all the beer runs out!
(Ed note: we can exclusively reveal the beers we know as of writing that will be available include: Brown, Pennant, Wiess, Pilsner, Blast, Monster, Black Chocolate, Sorachi Ace, Summer Ale and There Will Be Black).
Just three days later, on April 25th, Garret will return to the bar again, this time hanging out, helping to tap kegs and opening a few bottles of the ‘rare stuff’.
Rumour has it some ‘ghostly’ beer may be served at the dinner – a beer that will probably only ever be available to those eating…..
If I were you I’d keep up to date with all the latest developments by following Akkurat’s Facebook page!
