What are you doing tomorrow afternoon? To be precise what are you doing tomorrow afternoon between 16:37 and 16:45?
Not much? Great, then perhaps you’d like to tune in and watch me give the first ever Swedish Tedx Talk about beer!
Ted Talks are an Internet sensation, a global conference and online platform designed to disseminate “ideas worth spreading”.
This is how I am described on the Tedx Talk Umeå site. Englishman gone swede? Steady on!
A more local international version of Ted Talks (called Tedx Talks) is taking place right here in my adopted home city of Umeå tomorrow and I am very privileged to have been invited to give a speech about innovation and creativity in the beer world.
The problem is I am one of 17 speakers (many of whom have got extremely impressive and imposing CVs) and in order to squeeze us all in many of the talks have been trimmed down to just a few minutes.
In my case 8. Eight minutes to try and express everything I feel about beer. Now if any of your have ever watched a BSTV episode you’ll know the chances of me keeping to 8 minutes is about as likely as BeerSweden Trev inviting Hello Magazine into his home for a photo-spread.
Which is why I’m sitting here busily scribbling out words and crossing out paragraphs in a rush to get the speech done on time and in time.
